Our Founder - Barry Vicary

The late Barry Vicary (pictured above) founded the National Servicemen's Association

Vietnam was a war that divided the Australian nation. Some sections of the community reviled and abused 'Diggers' in uniform, including National Servicemen.  Further, those who served in Malaysia, Papua New Guinea and Australia, although having given up two years of their lives, were disentitled from receiving the repatriation benefits given to Regular Army servicemen.  The late Barry Vicary founded the National Servicemen's Association in Toowoomba on November 28th 1987 to seek a better deal for these Nashos.  Later he expanded the Association to include those from the call-up of the first scheme 1951 - 1959.

By supporting the Foundation you will have the satisfaction of knowing you are contributing to the further education and skills development of those already committed to the enhanced learning and medical skills that will be of significant benefit to our society as a whole.
